Pediatrics
Dr. Karla Gil is a board-certified pediatrician who earned her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2012.
A Miami native who spent most of her life in New Jersey, Dr. Gil began her career in outpatient pediatrics in South Florida, where she provided culturally competent care in both English and Spanish. She practiced there until 2021, when family circumstances led her to relocate to Connecticut.
Dr. Gil joined the Pediatric Department at Charter Oak Health Center because of her strong belief in its mission to provide high-quality, patient-centered care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. Since joining the team, she has been studying Portuguese to better serve her patients, consults with leaders of the Asthma Program, serves as the department’s provider for Initial (Pediatric) Refugee Health Assessments, and collaborates on quality improvement initiatives with organizational leadership. She is deeply committed to connecting with families across cultural backgrounds and delivering compassionate, comprehensive care to every child she sees.
Dr. William Gillespie earned his undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown and received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where he also completed his pediatric residency at the University of Virginia Hospital. He is a Board-certified pediatrician with over forty years of experience caring for children from birth through age 18.
In 2021, he joined the medical staff at Charter Oak Health Center, drawn by its mission to provide high-quality, compassionate healthcare to patients in a dignified and respectful manner.
